Perry is she is Chicago native who was birthed to Laurie Metcalf and Jeff Perry. In the ABC sitcom Roseanne (as seen by flashback) her mother played Jackie Harris in two of Perry's initial TV roles. Her parents did not allow her to perform by her parents until an adulthood stage, because they were concerned about the anxiety it could cause. Perry shy and shy for acting in high school, started to act in theater classes at Northwestern University because she wanted to meet new people. She played the younger Mary Cooper (Sheldon Cooper's mother) in Young Sheldon. This spin-off show that was part of the CBS show The Big Bang Theory was another younger portrayal of her mother. The character was chosen through an audition, even having a strong association with it.
